1. Are Webasto heaters equipped with a catalyser?

No they do not need a catalyser due to the very effective burning process. The low exhaust temperature would cause a catalyst to be ineffective.

2. How annoying is the smell nuisance?

The technology of our heaters made big step forward since the first diesel heaters were introduced. Especially with our motor home heaters we took a lot care to ensure that smell nuisance is nearly imperceptible, for your comfort and the comfort of your neighbour.

3. Do the Webasto heaters produce intermitting noise?

No, beside the reduction of smell nuisance we also reduced the noise emission. The characteristic “dosing pump ticking” is nearly inaudible by the use of new mountings. Especially with our RV heaters we want to ensure silent operation – so that your sleep is not disturbed.

4. Do Webasto heaters work in high altitudes?

All Webasto heaters operate reliable until an altitude of 2000m. For altitudes above 2000m it is possible to adjust our heaters. Please contact your local Webasto dealer for further details.
Some of our products already come with an integrated switch for high altitude operation when needed, e.g. our diesel cooker and the new Airtop EVO series.

5. Where are Webasto products mounted?

AirTop & DualTop:
Can be mounted into the cabin, doublefloor or underfloor

ThermoTop C:
Can be mounted into the engine compartment or under the motor home

6. Which position is possible for installation of the heaters?

AirTop:
AirTop heaters can be tilted up to 90°. Please consider the installation instructions for further details.

ThermoTop/DualTop:
Only one position is allowed. Please see installation instructions for details.

7. What is more expensive, heating with gas or diesel?

The difference is strongly depending on national taxation. Despite the different national tax systems the gas price can vary depending on the purchased amount. A reliable statement is not possible.

8. Is heating allowed while driving?

Yes! Heating while driving is allowed worldwide for all our heaters!

9. How can I make sure that the heater works in very cold regions?

The fuel is mixed with additives for prevent freezing of the fuel in very cold regions where temperatures can fall considerably under 0°. (Arctic diesel or winter diesel) No special preparation is needed.

10. How do Webasto heaters get supplied with fuel?

Each heater has a separate dosing pump which takes the fuel directly and independent out of the vehicle-own fuel tank.

11. How much diesel needs a Webasto heater per hour?

Of course, the fuel consumption is strongly depending on the needed heating power and type of heater. Please consult the technical details for further details. As very rough and noncommittal proportion a heater needs 100ml diesel per hour and kW.

12. How much electricity does a heater need per hour?

The electrical consumption is depending on the heating power needed and the type of heater. For further details please see the technical details. Our AirTop2000 for example needs only 14 to 29 W.

13. Is a technical inspection of the motor home necessary after the installation of a Webasto heater?

No. Due to the e1-approval, which is granted to all Webasto heaters, it is not necessary to make any technical inspection or registry in the motor home registration documents.

14. Do the heaters empty the motor home tank tanking when running?

No. The fuel connection of our heaters uses the return pipe or a separate fuel tank extractor. The suction hose will not reach the fuel tank ground so that a reserve in the fuel tank is secured.

15. Does the heater empty the motor home battery?

Our heaters are equipped with an under voltage protection. All heaters shut down at critical battery conditions. RV heaters are usually connected to a secondary battery, so that an engine start is still secured.

Water heaters

17. Why do I need an additional heater?18. Is it possible to connect an Alde heating system to the ThermoTop C Motorcaravan?19. Is it possible to heat sanitary water with ThermoTop C Motorcaravan?20. Is it possible to preheat the engine as well?

17. Why do I need an additional heater?

Motor homes usually loose the majority of heating energy through the windscreen. The big windscreens do not have any isolation and condensation water concentrates in this area. The ThermoTop C Motorcaravan heats specifically the driving cab. The ThermoTop C Motorcaravan is mounted into the engine compartment and the air is distributed through vehicles own fan system.
For very big motor homes an additional air heater could make sense, when normal fans have not enough power to distribute the air.

18. Is it possible to connect an Alde heating system to the ThermoTop C Motorcaravan?

The connection an Alde heating system is possible, but very complex. Please make sure that only trained Webasto service partner make such installations.

19. Is it possible to heat sanitary water with ThermoTop C Motorcaravan?

Due to the incorporation of plate heat exchangers or additional boilers it is possible to heat sanitary water as well. However, such solutions need to be planed and designed individually. Please contact your local Webasto dealer.

20. Is it possible to preheat the engine as well?

Yes, the ThermoTop C Motorcaravan and the Thremo90ST can be used to preheat the engine. They only need to be incorporated into the vehicle coolant cycle.

21. How does the DualTop heat sanitary water?

The DualTop comes with an integrated 11l water boiler which is heated by the burner unit.

22. Is it possible to connect an Alde heating system to the DualTop?

No a connection is not possible. The DualTop is only an air heating system.

23. How is he sanitary water heated while heating the air at the same time?

The water will be heated up to 70°C.

Diesel cooker

24. Is it possible to heat two pots at the same time?25. Does the diesel cooker take longer to heat up?26. Does the exhaust pipe necessarily need to lead the exhaust down, under the vehicle?27. How to clean the diesel cooker?28. Does the diesel cooker need any maintenance?29. Does the diesel cooker work in high altitudes?30. How about the diesel consumption of the cooker?

24. Is it possible to heat two pots at the same time?

No the diesel cooker is a single-flame cooker. But there is a second area to keep a second pot warm.

25. Does the diesel cooker take longer to heat up?

Yes, the diesel cooker needs more time to heat up compared to other motor home cookers. The diesel flame needs more time until burning stable and to heat up the CERAN field first.

26. Does the exhaust pipe necessarily need to lead the exhaust down, under the vehicle?

Basically it is highly recommended to lead off the exhaust under the vehicle. But it is possible to lead off the exhaust sideways or to the top as well. However please consider that exhaust is falling down and may enter the vehicle through other openings.

27. How to clean the diesel cooker?

The diesel cooker can be cleaned like any other CERAN field. Please follow cleanings instructions for CERAN fields.

28. Does the diesel cooker need any maintenance?

Yes, the cooker needs to be maintained by a Webasto trained service partner every 2 years. The fuel filter should be exchanged every year when using the cooker very intensively.

29. Does the diesel cooker work in high altitudes?

The cooker needs to switched high altitude mode in altitudes above 1800m. In this mode the operation is possible until an altitude of 2200m.

30. How about the diesel consumption of the cooker?

The cooker needs between 0,09l and 0,19l diesel per hour.
